Kingwood Park Band Spring Concert Will Feature Congressman Ted Poe
Congressman Ted Poe will be featured in a world premiere composition by Texas composer Jason Nitsch at the Spring Concert given by the Kingwood Park High School Bands on Friday, May 18th.  The concert will begin at 7:00pm and be in the Performing Arts Center at KPHS.  Admission is free.

The concert will also feature outstanding solists and small ensembles that will be competing in the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest on May 28th, Kingwood Park's first student ever to make the Texas All-State Band - percussionist Kyle Raney, The Symphonic Band conducted by Mr. Robbie T. Sitka, and the Wind Ensemble conducted by Mr. John Nielsen.  This will be the final performance of the year for the senior band members that will be graduating from KPHS on May 26th at Reliant Stadium.

The highlight of the concert will be the premiere performance of "Battle of San Jacinto", an original composition that Texas composer Jason Nitsch has written specifically for this occasion.  The work includes a narration that will be delivered by Congressman Ted Poe, telling the story of the incredible battle leading to the birth of our great state.  Excerpts from many of the famous songs of that era in our states history will be heard strategically woven into the fabric of the composition by Mr. Nitsch.
